Lacrimorphosis presents the new LP

Recently, the metal project released its full-length album Chronosphere. Written under the influence of old-school death metal, the record blends technical execution with Ancient Egyptian mysticism and a horror sci-fi atmosphere.
Initially, the album was a collection of scattered demos leaning more toward black metal. That was the case until the project’s current frontman took full control of the music and changed its direction.
"I wrote all the material myself in my home studio. I steered it toward old-school death metal, made it more technical, broader, and ‘softer’ in terms of structure, but still with the same overall atmosphere. The demos and mood shifted along with my vision for the project," Lacrimorphosis told Neformat.
Previously, Lacrimorphosis' music leaned heavily into dungeon synth and black metal, shaped by the perspective of another member of the project. But the new direction became inevitable once the project’s founder chose self-expression as his priority. According to him, only now, drawing inspiration from Florida death metal bands (Death, Obituary, and others), has he reached the level of complexity he had always sought in his work.
The new album is steeped in imagery from both Ancient Egyptian mythology and dark science fiction. Together, they form a dimension through which the musician reflects on human nature.
"Several tracks are dedicated to the Egyptian god Nun. That's why the cover also depicts the cosmos, the sea, and other elements symbolizing the primordial waters and eternity. The rest of the material conveys a generally grim, philosophical atmosphere, combining mythology with a horror sci-fi mood. It’s about people and their essence," he adds.
Now, Lacrimorphosis plans to develop his style in the same vein while strengthening his own distinct identity. The key at this stage, he notes, is to merge technicality, atmosphere, and emotion while preserving quality, authenticity, and openness to new ideas.
Lacrimorphosis is a Ukrainian solo metal project that began active work in 2023. At first, its music fused dungeon synth and black metal, but later shifted focus to old-school death metal. Today, the project’s discography includes a demo, a single, and several full-lengths.
